We had a great trip to Philadelphia today, to visit Janie & Mike, and have a great tour of Philly thanks to Mike's great navigation skills! Both Chris and I had driven by Philly numerous times, but neither of us had ever spent any time there. We had a great day playing tourist! ...And it was 96' outside, just wanted to put that out there.
First stop: City Hall. Huge & beautiful!
Then we got to see the LOVE statue! I have always wanted to go here! We got a lotta love in this pic ;)

After walking in the heat for a couple hours, we were hungry! So, we stopped at Jim's Steaks for...what else... a PHILLY CHEESE STEAK. I can't even begin to tell you how delicious this was. Chris enjoyed his too.
After lunch we were re-energized to do more sight seeing, and we hit up the Liberty Bell and Independence Hall!
The crew after a long & hot day!
Janie, Mike, me, & Cristobal!
So, thank you to JL & Mike for a great visit and for your hospitality! We'll see you in a few weeks for the ball game!
Night!
So I guess I didn't have much to say since my last post! Well since then I have started a new job. I'm now a speech-language pathologist in an elementary school serving K-5th grades. I love my kids! They are so cute and the faculty there has been very helpful and welcoming. It's always stressful learning the ropes of a new job and everything that goes with that, but I can't complain :)
I had spring break the week of Easter which was soooo nice! Unfortunately the weather was cool & rainy for most of it, but I got in some good relaxation time! I had been wanting to do something "crafty" for some time, but nothing was striking me. So one day I headed over to Michael's to see if I could come up with something... and I did! Here's a couple pictures of the process:

It's just little butterflies (I got a Martha Stewart punch out thing, I don't know what it's called haha) and I used these little double-sided sticky circles and cut them into quarters for the small butterflies (need a good, sharp pair of scissors!) To make them 3-D i just stacked 1-3 on top of each other. I don't know that you can really get the effect from the pictures, but I swear you do in real-life ;) Today I went back to Michael's and got a frame for it. Who knows where it will go.
Then Saturday of last week (April 18), Mom, Dad, Danny (my godfather), and his wife Pam came to visit us!!! They were here until wednesday AM and we had such a nice visit. We took them into DC late at night to see the monuments all lit up, and since it was late no one was out. That's my favorite way to see the monuments! I think we took them on a pretty good tour :) Sunday we went back during the day and did the touristy stuff.. some of the monuments & Arlington National Cemetery. Wish I had some pics! I don't know why I didn't bring my camera. Monday & Tuesday the 4 of them braved DC "solo" haha. We had gotten SmartTrip cards to make things easier for them to navigate! They got to see some of the museums and had lunch with Chris on top of the Department of Labor which has great views of the city! Then they headed out with me when I left for work on Wednesday. It was so sad having them leave, I just wasn't ready! We loved their visit and welcome them back anytime :) Maybe I'll have pics that I can steal from mom & dad later!
A couple weeks before that, though, Chris and I went into DC at sunrise to get some shots of the cherry blossoms.... I did get a few pics (which aren't nearly as good as Chris'), but here's a couple:

We were so surprised at how many people had the same idea that we did with the sunrise shots! These pics don't show it at all, but it was a busy place at 6 am!
Also, this weekend we made some updates to our balcony. (yes, i have pics!) Our inspiration was the kitties! We have been letting them out on the balcony a little bit, but we hover over them because we don't want them to get too close to the edge so it was always a little stressful with them out there! ....so we got them leashes. Well, you can imagine how much they loved that. Right - NOT AT ALL. So we knew we had to put something out there to prevent them from taking the plunge haha.
Before pic... nothing too exciting! I should've gotten a shot with the chairs. They were just red & blue Sports Authority chairs..
Then the netting/fence thingy goes up...
But no, we didn't stop there! I decided to test out my Green Thumb! If people who are good at gardening have green thumbs, then mine is probably black. But I decided to give it a shot anyway! So we got a window box and some flowers and I went wild hahaha...
But nope, that still wasn't good enough...so, we retired our old SA chairs to the little closet/storage thing on our balcony, went to Target and bought new furniture :)
(Note the kitty all nice & comfy on the new chair! YAY for unsupervised kitties on the balcony!) 2 new loungers & a table :) I will put something on that table, I just dont' know what yet. But it will be bright!
I think that's all for now. I swear they won't all be this long! If you're still here, thanks for reading :) Tomorrow we are headed to Philly to visit Janie & Mike so I'm sure I'll have something to post after that! Hope everyone has a good weekend & is enjoying this beautiful weather!
