....just sayin!

Or, you could send messages in a bottle, smoke signals, or bird calls will also do. I just like to know you're there ;)

Things That Make Me Go Hmm...

Come tax season...what's with all the dancing Uncle Sam's and Lady Liberty's? They don't make me want to file my taxes with you, they just make me feel sorry for the poor shmuck you made dress up in that stupid costume and risk their life by standing in the street during rush hour traffic. Find a new marketing ploy. Perhaps you can borrow the gecko? I like him better.

All the people who thought the movie Valentine's Day sucked because it had sooo many actors in it and you only saw them on screen for a short time. Really people? Did you not see the previews? They made it pretty clear how the movie was going to go, not like they hid the HUGE cast list from you. If that's the reason you didn't like it, it's your own damn fault, pay better attention next time.
Don't get me wrong, I haven't seen the movie. I think I'll like it. But if I don't, I guarantee you it won't be because of the gimonstrous cast. Did I just make up a word?

How the weeks go so s.l.o.w.l.y.... but the weekends
fly by. It's just not fair. 'Nuff said.

Finally, my glands are swollen and painful, but I'm not sick. Not a runny nose or a sore throat in sight. They just HURT. Maybe my body is currently at war with an attacker! Hope it doesn't successfully invade! I have been extraordinarily tired this week. Maybe it has something to do with that. It wasn't a very restful week or weekend thanks to being drunk and awake still at 4 am and waking up at 8 over the weekend ;) (PS I love you Sinsull!)

PS -hey speechies.. what anatomy do you see? ...Nasopharynx, oropharynx, posterior pharyngeal wall, lamina propria of thyroid cartilige, superior cornu, thyroid notch, and trachea. The epiglottis, hyoid bone, thyrohyoid membrane, and cricothyroid ligament are MIA! WTF? hahahah

Can you tell it's been a long week and I'm becoming delirious? ;)

The Juice is Worth the Squeeze

I think life is about finding that one person you really care about. That one person who means more to you than anything else in the world. And when you find them, you fight for them. You risk it all, you put them in front of everything: your future, your life, all of it.

Because in your heart you know, that the juice is worth the squeeze.

That's what life's all about.

A Week Not for the Weak!

It was busy!! A good busy, of course. My Canadian friend (Sarah) came last Saturday and left this morning. We had such a great time having her here, I hope she enjoyed her visit as much as we did!

First order of business: Go to Total Wine and More which I just realized sells my absolute very most favorite wine: Red Cat (and White Cat!) It's only about a mile away so this is about the most exciting thing that could ever happen. Buy wine: CHECK!!

Monday was a holiday so Chris was off with Sarah. Luckily I only had a couple clients in the morning and then my social skills group at night, so I was able to spend the afternoon with Sarah. The whole week really is kind of a blur, a mixture of working some and then coming home to hang out. Definitely can't complain about that!!

Wednesday I took the day completely off and we went to the National Museum of Crime & Punishment. SO AWESOME. Probably my favorite museum that I've been to in DC. Keep in mind if you go, you do have to pay for it. It was $12 because we bought our tickets online; $20 if you pay for it when you get there.

It's so informative and very interactive which i loved! We got a print out of our actual finger print (maybe we're the only 2 who would be excited about this?), took a lie detector test (well it didn't really work... only for me since my hands are hotter than Sarah's haha), got to stand in a line up and follow the "turn to the right, left, suspect 2 step forward" directions, drive a simulated cop car to catch bad guys, shoot a bad guy (I killed 2 guys, Sarah killed 3), solve a CSI case,
and go to the actual set of America's Most Wanted. I had no idea that show was filmed in DC, let alone in the Crime & Punishment Museum! But yep! They film Saturday nights and you can watch from behind the bullet proof glass. I want to do that next!

It was fairly dark in the museum and you can't use flash photography, but I tried to get a few pics.

AMW Set!

Friday I was also off and we spent some time shopping and taking care of things to get ready for a night out in Georgetown!
We started with dinner at J.Paul's and then went over to Old Glory, where we actually stayed the whole night!

Less than thrilled about Mr."that guy"

So it was an incredibly fun week and we are so happy that you decided to come for a visit! You are welcome back any time you want to come!

In other news, it was really fun watching the Olympics with a Canadian! It should also be mentioned that Seth Wescott won Men's Snowboard Cross again last week! (It debuted in the Olympics in Torino 2006 and he won then too.) He is not only from Maine, but was my brother's roomate...so I brag about that any chance I can. Sue me ;)
Yesterday we had a minor health emergency with Fenway. (Warning: this is not the most pleasant thing ever. If you don't want to read about gross things, don't read on!)
When we got up on Saturday morning there were balloons alllll over the apartment, some all torn up. As the morning went on Fenway began barfing up quite an assortment of colors. Luckily, they were small balloons. So we brought her into Urgent Care, they determined she had a fever and they gave her a couple of shots. One was anti-nausea. She threw up probably about 15 balloons in all. They gave us some special soft food for GI problems and we are slowly re-introducing regular hard food over the next 3 days while she's getting the special food. We also got an Rx for Pepcid AC. She wasn't allowed to eat at ALL yesterday (we could give her water though) which is incredibly painful for a 15 lb cat! She hasn't pushed away from many dinner tables! hehe She is doing much better today though. Poor lil baby!

Also, I know this is late but I hope you all had a wonderful Valentine's Day! Chris got me roses and we went out for a special dinner, aww :)

Sorry this got so long! It had been a while and I've actually been up to things lately! haha Thanks for reading ~ xo

Roses & Thorns

The time has come for another Roses & Thorns installment! So much excitement right now with the snow and all the fun that brings! Here we go!
  • Roses to Insull coming to visit on SATURDAY!! So soon! So much fun & mayhem to be had!
  • Roses to visiting Erin & Jimmy last night in their amazing condo for the Superbowl! So much fun! Gotta love playing the drinking games (i.e. drink any time there is a 1st down or penalty, and during commericals any time there is an animal or violence) and chatting/catching up and forgetting the game was even on! ;)
  • Roses to all of the snow we have gotten lately!!!!!!!!!! We got 24" with the last storm (see I'm So Glad I Live Here or HAMMERED. (again).
  • Roses to 10-20 MORE inches of snow headed here tomorrow afternoon into Wednesday afternoon! And the snowdays that will follow.
  • Roses to our tried & true Toyota Corolla which has been trucking through the snow and slush and ice and snowbanks like a 4 wheel drive SUV!
  • Roses to being from Maine and knowing how to drive a Corolla like a mack truck in the snow!
  • Roses to having a snow day with Chris today! Since he's such a federal gov't big wig (read: "essential personnel,") even when the government is closed he usually still has to go in. I guess 24" of snow will stop everyone! Yay! Hoping for another one Wednesday and/or Thursday!
  • Thorns to not getting paid for snow days! haha it's nice to have a break but it can be challenging to reschedule everyone sometimes.
  • Thorns to the a-hole in the BMW 3 series with Lamborghini wheels... that we spent 30 minutes helping get unstuck just so we could get into the garage. Did you really think that was going to get through the snow bank? (I'm not just saying he was an a-hole because he was in a BMW - with Lamborghini wheels - he really was a d!ck. And yes, he did make it a point to tell us about the wheels.) You know how I'm such a car aficionado. Maybe on a nice sunny, warm day when I don't have things to do I'd be a lil more into it... but being stuck outside in freezing temperatures with your Lamborghini wheels spinning out and spitting snow in my mouth..ehhh, not so much. Thanks though.
  • Thorns to Clare being sick. I brought her to the vet today; no meds - it's just a head cold just like people get. Unfortunately there's not really anything she can be given to make her feel better, but she is getting better on her own. Friday and Saturday she was glued to my hip and slept curled up on me all day, barely eating anything. Between yesterday and today she is slowly returning to her old curious self, despite a low fever. Poor girl! Let's hope Fen doesn't catch it!
  • Thorns to officially having our hands washed of Windsor at Shirlington Village. We turned in our keys today and said our tearful goodbyes to the first place we've lived that we've loved, our first place as a married couple, and the kitties first home! We really loved it there and were sad to go. But, gotta do what you gotta do to move on to bigger & better things.

I think that's all for now!

I have learned over the past few days that happiness is a snowstorm!

I'm So Glad I Live Here

It's just so pretty!! We took a ride into DC this morning to get some shots of the Winter Wonderland! The roads were pretty treacherous so luckily there weren't many people out! It was worth the trek though - so pretty!
