DC & Phils vs Nats

What a fun weekend we had! We got to see JL and Mike again, but this time in our territory :) We took them on a walking tour of DC before heading to Nationals Park to see the Phillies play the Nationals.

They got here around 10-ish, and the day started off cool and cloudy. We had no idea what we were in for!! After lunch & some relaxation we headed to the city. Neither of them had been to DC for several years so it's always fun to take someone who is "new" to the city! We walked the whole mall and they got to see the Capitol, Washington Monument, WWII Memorial, Korean Memorial, and Lincoln, and of course the White House and Jefferson from afar. It is impossible to see it all in one day, but I think they got a good tasting of it all! It got SO HOT by the time we headed out to the city. The only reason we survived was because the clouds were building and the breeze starting picking up.... I think you know where this is going.

Here's some pics to feast your eyes on of us in DC....(all stolen from JL!)
We <3 MAINE!

...Then off to the ballpark!

This was the first thing we saw as we entered the park... the giant screen saying "Please take cover under the concourse as storms are approaching. We are monitoring the situation and will keep you updated as information becomes available" Great.
So we got a bite to eat as the rain poured down... everyone needs to go here. DELISH
Finally the rain stopped (not even delayed) and they played some ball! We were happy :)
Look at all those #42's out there! It was Jackie Robinson Day

You can see the Dept. of Labor from our seats! (The brown/tan building with the big black windows above the Y in "segway" and T in "tours")
I love night games!
So we decided after the 6th inning we were gonna go move down more and closer to the exit... well what perfect timing we had! We had been noticing some lightening during the 6th inning off in the distance so we were thinking something would be coming eventually. Well, as we got under the concourse JL and I made our way to the bathroom and you know how you can hear the game thru the speakers in there, well we heard them say that it's "really coming down now, everyone's rushing off the field.." and we're thinking, ok, are they playing a different game in here or what?? it wasn't even sprinkling 30 seconds ago! well apparently as soon as we walked into the bathroom it started raining like the world was ending! haha Needless to say, we left, they called the game, and the Phils won because they played 6 innings.

Thanks JL & Mike for making the trip down to DC to visit us, and thank you for treating us to the game! We had a great weekend.
(I can't believe it's almost MONDAY - ahhhh!)
Hope everyone has a great week! (Assuming anyone read this ;) ) hehehe Night all!
