Moooovin on out!

Helloooooo!

I was finally able to steal a (much over-due) photo from Cristobal! (But that's fine because I'm still not ready to let go of the Holidays!) The weekend before we went home for Christmas we went to the Capitol to get a shot of the tree. Very pretty! Here she is:


We also had a very unexpectedly jam-packed weekend! Here's what went down...

It all started when we received the letter from our apartment about how much rent was increasing this year ($200...YIKES!) Our lease is up March 29 so they let us know how much it was going to cost to renew and we just thought...NOPE! It is already ridiculously expensive and we didn't want to give them another cent. Don't get me wrong - we LOVE where we live and will be sad to go, but enough is enough already. So, we figured we'd be here until the end of our lease and them move on with our lives...

Well I had been looking online just to see what was out there for apartments. We were hoping to save about $500/month with our next apartment (best-case scenario) but realize for that price there can be slim pickings! But I found a special with a sister community (we live at Windsor at Shirlington Village and I found a special at Windsor at Arbors) so we went there this weekend to check it out. Though the apartment is smaller, we are down-sizing from 1100 sq ft to 1064 (not huge, but you do feel it!) it was perfect for us! It's still 2 bedroom/2 bath, washer dryer, still have the pool and fitness center, free apartment shuttle to take us to the Metro M-F am and pm during rush hour (the metro is only 2 miles away anyway), annnnnnnnnnnd we now have a fire place! WOW! So excited. Plus, this new apartment has lots of windows so lots of natural light, something this apartment does not have at all. AT ALL. And, we are saving $610/month! Unreal! We were bummed at the thought of leaving this great place but now we're excited for this new place. It's only about 4-5 miles away so we're happy to know we can visit the awesome Shirlington Village, which has been a great home for us, anytime we want :)

We are in The Elm. Oh yeah - the most exciting part... we're moving in 11 days! Well, that's the day we sign the lease and get the keys (1/22). We have to be out of this place Feb 9 (had to give 30 day notice) so that gives us a little bit of time to move in which will be nice.

My goodness, I'm so excited that you would think we had just bought a house! ;) Needless to say, we started packing/cleaning/organizing today. That $610 is a big deal to us!

Anyway, I hope 2010 is starting out as well for you all! Can't believe tomorrow is MONDAY..I may have to do a Roses & Thorns installment to keep the Monday Blues at bay!
